Another tip, rig up before extending the ISO rod Some people also keep the cap on.

True story:
I once broke my tip by accidentally headbutting the rod tip (before the rod was extended)
I was tying a stopper knot and i bent down my head to pull the knot through to the loop with my mouth only to headbutt the rod tip and break it.

To be fair it was 6am and had barely got any sleep the night before.

In regards to cheap rods with tips that can bend around itself, Shimano have 2 low end iso rods around the $250-$290 mark with taftec system which allows the rod tip to bend around itself.

Haha classic moment! I've heard of people stepping on their rods (god knows how they do it)

Man, Daiwa and Shimano have so many rods and keep updating them that its hard to keep up with them haha. Everytime you think of purchasing one, they make a new edition! How frustrating haha
